DIY Book clutch

All blogs have a most popular post… and mine is the DIY: Book Clutch. In that post I show how to make a Book Clutch from scratch… of course, you need to get a beautiful book that is cheap enough to destroy. And my recommendation still is to check at Barnes and Noble’s, they have gorgeous covers at reasonable prices.

I received some comments saying that it is terrible to break a book…and it is! At first I really tried to save the pages, a task that proved to be more difficult than I thought, so all I have left to say is… in the terrible scale, it is worst to pay a €1,000 for a book clutch (here) than to destroy a novel that’s not a first edition, but rather a really cheap hard cover one.

Something I would change about it if I had to make it again, is to find a clasp that closes the clutch in an easier way, cause the bow looks cute, but can be pretty annoying to tie it back every time you need something.

All in all, I would be lying if I say I enjoyed making it. It was a long process, but the final result made me super happy! Also, all the money I saved made me even more happy! And I still have it and loved that it was my wedding’s clutch :)

It’s a gorgeous idea :))) I love books and wouldn’t want to wreck one, but maybe if I found one I didn’t like, I would do this!! xx

I had to pick my favorite one! :) Would hate to carry around a book I disliked. But I bought this one specially for this DIY… had to make sure it was thick enough to fit my basics ^^

This is an idea that not everyone can test out since it’s not easy destroying a book but I think you did a wonderful job and it sure is very unique! :)

The DIY book clutch is a great idea, but I’d never be able to find a book I liked to do it with, haha! I always seem to hang onto books and re-read them over and over!

Wonderful DIY idea. My heart would definitely break if I had to destroy a book, but as you say, it doesn’t need to be some special edition, but rather an ordinary hardback, so we’ll see… x

I love this idea! It’s so cute and innovative! I’m a self-confessed book nerd but I admit I’ve read a few novels that weren’t that great and I wouldn’t mind destroying lol.
