Making things to decorate my husband’s desk is not really easy. All my projects are too girly and don’t really much his style. So, when I got the chalkboard paint and noticed that he was really into al my chalk projects, I decided to give it a try and finally do something for him! I picked a wooden picture frame at Michael’s, of course I had to buy the one I liked the most… even though a square one would have been more his style. To paint it, I used Martha Stewart’s chalkboard paint, which is my favorite one! I recently got a few other shades which I can’t wait to try :) After two hands of paint, I stained it with chalk to give it a more used look. I decided to keep it simple, but you can also write a message on it or make some cute drawings… there are endless possibilities!

Let me know if you try this DIY chalkboard picture frame project… or come up with a similar idea :)

As you might know, I recently moved from Austria to Indiana! And I have been super busy decorating our new home. Just last week our container full of furniture arrived. Which means, that I was really entertained unpacking and organizing. And yes, this is my excuse for my blog absence. I’m not happy I couldn’t blog, but I was really busy in an amazing way!

One of the things that I did not have, and really wanted to put on our entrance door was a welcome sign… a wood welcome sign! After looking around and only finding really expensive wreaths, I decided to make something by my own. I spent a few hours at one of my favorite stores, Michael’s while also looking for some inspiration at Pinterest. One of the signs I loved the most was a wooden one very similar to this one, so I decided to make my own! All I needed was a piece of wood, chalkboard paint and a readyscrew. After 2 hands of paint, it was done and hanging on my door! The best part is… I can change the welcome message and go for more creative things, or maybe a cute Happy Easter or Knock! :)

Growing up, my dogs never had a crate… so when I started to read books about puppies and they all recommended crate training, I felt like I would never be able to lock my little pug on one! First I purchased a fabric crate with two windows that I would leave open and then close the kitchen with small fences. It worked for two weeks until she started to break the “tent”. That’s when we decided to buy a real crate. We purchased one that must have been designed for a german shepherd, as 6 pugs could easily fit there! We still left it open at night with the kitchen fences. Once she was a little bit older and started to push the fences, we had one option left… lock her in the cage. Oh my! Was that a difficult thing to do!!! But once I did it I realized she actually loves her crate!!! It is her home… and the one place where she can relax and not be bothered! She even started to go all by her own and take little naps there. So cute! Even though she really likes it, I still felt bad about it… so I started to leave the door open at night. As soon as she realized that it was open… she would start running around and waking us up at 5 am… just to go back to her crate once we were awake! So weird! Anyways, since that little experiment, she now sleeps inside her crate. And she honestly loves it! At around 9 she goes inside all by her own… and she also naps there during the day. So, in case you feel like I felt, and are kind of worried about crate training your doggie… I assure you it’s really easy and good!

Having the crate in the living room can look a little bit sad, so I decided to add a little sign with her name on it. To do so, I got a chalkboard sign at Michael’s and glued it with Martha Stewart’s glue gun. I wrote on it with regular Chalk, at first I tried using some chalk paint and stencils, but the work space is really small and it was not easy to fit the name Lemon on it. I love how it turned out… it makes her crate so cute! Next on my list is to make a cute basket to store all her toys :)

I got some pearls and black rhinestones  which I had to cut the stickers to make them fit the hair claws, and arranged them in the sparkliest way possible! What I love about this DIY is not only how easy it is, but that it is a really cheap way to incorporate some bling into ur hair look :)

DIY customized t-shirt H&M

I love customizing my clothes, so when I found these H&M studs and iron-on appliques on sale… I knew I had to buy them!!! After a few days thinking what to do with them, I decided to buy a long sleeve t-shirt and customize it. At first, I wanted to customize a pair of shorts, but fall is here and the lack of summery days would not let me wear them till next year! So I went to H&M and I found this t-shirt with see through details. Here are my steps for this DIY customized t-shirt:

materials for DIY customized t-shirt

- Get a t.shirt (or any piece of clothing u want to update!), studs and an iron-on applique.

DIY customized t-shirt from H&M divided

- Arrange the studs and appliques in different ways to make sure you find the one you like the best :)

DIY customized t-shirt with iron-on applique

- Iron-on the applique and let it dry! (Use a damp cloth in between the the iron and the applique)

DIY customized H&M divided tshirt

- Start applying the studs to your top! Do not overthink it :)

DIY Customized t-shirt from divided H&M

- I decided to add some studs in the arm in between the see through fabrics. At first I was planning on covering both sides but ended up doing just half of one side. Like the fact that you can only see it from the back :)

Diy stud customized tshirt

- I used the leftover studs to decorate the bottom of the t-shirt.

And voila! That was it! This super easy DIY takes no time and it’s perfect for personalizing and updating old clothes :)

If you also receive a monthly beauty box, then you might have wonder what to do with all those beautiful boxes! I first came up with the idea of glueing flowers on them (you can see that DIY here), but I already have many of those… and wanted to do something different. For this beauty box makeover you will need a box, a magazine, scissors, glue, masking tape, washi tape and something to close the box (I used velcro)

Beauty box makeover

First I started breaking the cover part! I removed the sides of the cover, leaving only one there. That one I glued it to the box and to make sure that it wouldn’t move, I put some tape on it.

DIY beauty box makeover

After making sure the box was opening and closing correctly, I started glueing different magazine pictures, making a collage with them.

Beauty box makeover project

Once I covered the whole box I added a closure. I used a small velcro circle, but you can use anything you want… even lace to make a bow!

DIY box glossybox

And the last step of this super easy DIY project was covering the ugly parts and holding the papers together by using washi tape :) I picked a cute design by MT Masking Tape, you can find other designs here.

Beauty box makeover diy

And this is the final result! I now use it to store the beauty things I use the most :)

Do you keep your beauty boxes? What do you do with them?

Today I wanna show you a super easy DIY, perfect to organize your desk… or even as a cute gift for Father’s day! And… you get to use those old nail polishes that take forever to dry :) The ones I used are from American Apparel.

For this jar pencil holder DIY project you will need:

Nail polish DIY craft

First, use the paper tape to separate the sections you want to paint. When I finished doing this, I thought it would be super cute to just leave it like that! :) This tape is so pretty… ! I recommend using paper tape cause it is easy to remove and doesn’t leave the jar sticky.

DIY pencil holder

Pick your colors and start painting! I gave 2 hands to each line…

DIY nail polish craft

DIY Painted jar

and voila!… Super easy, and now it looks really cute on my desk. Will definitely make a few more in another shades to separate pencils, markers and pens :)

DIY pencil holder

Let me know if you do it! You can use tons of color variations…and even change the directions of the lines. Maybe even make some checked print!

After a few years of beauty boxes, I developed a pretty interesting box collection. I have them in a delicate light pink (glossybox) and Fuchsia (pink box). At the beggining it was exciting, as they helped me store and classify every single item I own. One box stores my markers, while other my pencils, and another one has my paper punchers collection. But now that everything is stored nicely, I really did not know what to do with them!. I checked online for some beauty box makeover and found this gorgeous DIY drawer, but it is way too hard…and I do not really need it. So I came up with an idea, to make them look cute and unique!

diy pink box makeover

beauty box makeover

To make this box, all you need is a plastic bouquet, a strong UHU and a box! Super easy!

diy beauty box

Once you have your box, you can use it for whatever you want. Some of my favorite ideas are to use it as packaging for a birthday gift box, by filling it up with candy, coupons or whatever you wanna give! Another option I love, is to fill it up with pot pourri and keep it close to your bed or inside your walk-in closet, the smell will turn your room into a really relaxing place. Maybe even put some pot pourri that helps you sleep? Or in the closet, one that keeps moths away? Well…that’s up to you! :)

Let me know if you do it! And please, share some pics ^^

DIY Ripped Knee Jeans

Lately, I’ve been seeing these ripped knee pants a lot! And even tried some on (as if I did not have enough jeans!) but (gladly!) none of them looked good… mostly because I’m short, so the broken section was closer to my ankles than to my knees!. That’s when I realized that I should make a DIY! And not only one, I will actually make one per week…where I will show you how to adapt your jeans to the new trends :)

First, you need to find a pair of jeans that will look good with a broken knee. I picked a pair of skinny jeans from Forever 21. Once you know which one you want to destroy, try them on…and mark with a little piece of soap where you want to cut them. You should make the mark in both knees and double check that they are at the same height. Also, make sure that the line is in the middle of your knee.

The next step is the scariest one! To be careful, place a magazine inside the leg, and make sure it ives you the shape of half the leg. Pick a magazine you do not like, cause it might get damaged with the knife (Extra points if it belongs to someone else). Don’t be scared… and cut fast! If you want to, you can twist the ends so it breaks a little bit more, but that’s something that will happen alone with the wearing and washing :)

Part I

The first thing you need is a frame! You can pick the one you want, I decided to go for this one from Ikea. You will also need a cork that fits in the size of your frame. Mine was a little bit bigger, so I had to cut it (will definitely use the leftover part to make a small pinboard!). And finally, put the cork inside… and voila! Pretty easy! :)
Now comes…
Part II

This is definitely my fave part! I tried my favorite shades on the pins until I found the option I love the most. At first I thought I would love the blue ones, but ended up going for the O.P.I Germany collection shades, the pastels tones go perfectly with the room and are really relaxing. And for the other pins, I used the extra buttons that normally come with the clothes, and glued them. These ended up looking beautiful! Now I need to find more buttons :)
Hope you like it!

xoxo!
